Volkswagen blew the automotive world away when it introduced its first new Volkswagen Atlas lineup not too long ago. Not only was this new VW Atlas lineup a fantastically impressive new SUV, but it was indicative to the way VW was going to do business from now on – with an increased emphasis on new SUV lineups.
Now that the 2020 model year is upon us here at Herman Cook VW in Encinitas, CA, we’ve gotten a look at the newest iteration of the VW Atlas family – the 2020 Volkswagen Atlas lineup, which boasts more of the features and capabilities you’ve come to love. It also boasts a pair of powerful and fuel efficient engine choices from which to choose – one of which is a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and one of which is a V6 engine. But which powertrain option will you choose for your 2020 Volkswagen Atlas? You can figure that out right here as we compare the engine options of the 2020 VW Atlas lineup.
2.0-Liter 4-Cylinder Turbocharged Engine
3.6-Liter V6 Engine
As we covered over the course of our introduction, the 2020 VW Atlas lineup at Herman Cook VW in Encinitas, CA, allows you to choose between a 4-cylinder engine and a V6 engine to put under the hood of your new Atlas. But which one is right for you?
Well, that depends on whether power or gas mileage is more important to you. Because while both 2020 Atlas engine options feature high power and gas mileage ratings, the 4-cylinder engine is more fuel efficient while the V6 engine is more powerful – as outlined in our comparison table above.
One other important thing to note is that the 4-cylinder engine can only be paired with front-wheel drive, whereas the V6 engine can be paired with either front-wheel drive or 4MOTION® permanent all-wheel drive. That right there could make your decision for you if you’re in need of all-wheel drive.
