When you’re navigating busy highways or backing out of tight parking spots, having the right driver-assistive technology can make all the difference. To help Encinitas drivers feel more confident, Volkswagen has upgraded its IQ.DRIVE® driver-assist suite for the 2027 model year. Learn more about all the key updates to the IQ.DRIVE® system with Herman Cook Volkswagen before visiting our dealership to see these cutting-edge technologies in action.

IQ.DRIVE® Enhancements

For select 2027 Volkswagen models — including the VW Atlas family, VW Golf family, VW ID.Buzz, and VW Tiguan — the IQ.DRIVE® system receives several updates:

  • Travel Assist: Beyond helping manage your speed and lane position, Travel Assist now lets you use the turn signal to initiate an assisted lane change above 45 miles per hour.
  • Emergency Assist Plus: This upgrade can guide your Volkswagen to the side of the road if it detects signs of a possible medical emergency, such as several uncorrected lane departures in a row or 25 seconds without steering input.
  • Predictive Adaptive Cruise Control: The Predictive Adaptive Cruise Control (pACC) system now responds sooner to higher speed limits and extends to highway ramps, slowing for your exit based on your navigation route or turn signal.
  • Rearview Camera System: Standard on select 2027 Atlas, ID.Buzz, and Tiguan trims, the enhanced rearview camera system can detect pedestrians behind you and apply the brakes if it senses a potential collision while reversing at 1 to 6 miles per hour.

Road Experience Management (REM)

Road Experience Management (REM) is a cloud-based mapping feature available exclusively on the 2027 VW ID.Buzz as part of the In-Vehicle Premium subscription service. It uses crowdsourced camera data on lane markings, signage, and street lighting to improve the maps that support the vehicle’s driver-assistance features. For example, if lane lines are faded or hard to see, that map data can help the vehicle maintain its lane position without relying entirely on its onboard camera. The 2027 ID.Buzz includes a one-year In-Vehicle Premium trial, giving drivers time to try REM on their daily routes around Encinitas.
